Managing accurate project timelines is important to ensure that all tasks are completed within the planned schedule. To help maintain consistency between project duration and task timelines, the system automatically updates the Project End Date when tasks extend beyond the current project schedule. This automation reduces manual updates and keeps project timelines aligned with ongoing work.

In the Project View, the Project End Date automatically adjusts based on the end dates of the tasks added to the project.

How it works

  • Suppose a project has an End Date of 30th April.
  • If you create or assign a Task with an end date later than 30th April, the Project End Date automatically updates to match the Task End Date.

This ensures that the project timeline always reflects the latest scheduled work.

Example

  • Project End Date: 30th April
  • Task End Date added: 10th May
  • Result: Project End Date automatically changes to 10th May.

Important Note

  • The Project End Date will not change if the Task End Date is earlier than or equal to the existing Project End Date.
  • Only tasks extending beyond the current project timeline trigger an update.

This behavior helps maintain accurate project scheduling without requiring manual updates.
